If Henry were to team up with a cartridge company and put their name on a cartridge, what caliber and case configuration should it be? What would you like to see if Henry considered this? Revolver cartridge? Magnum? Straightwall? .41 Magnums big brother, 41 Henry express? 284Henry or 264Henry? Any Ideas?

if they were to offer shell casings on par with that from Starline, with the Henry name, I'd probably buy several hundred for the calibers we have .. 357, 44 Mag. and 45-70 .. we reload and wouldn't be interested in factory ammo

I would think it would be something along the original in .44 save the rimfire aspect.

How about 45 Colt and a nice HRA volcanic pistol to go with it.

I think the OP intended to deal with Henry giving their name to a specific cartridge. The 327 and the 41 mag both lend newness to this concept. They could come out with a totally new chambering and cartridge and put their name on that. But, that is a high risk item.

Specialty cartridges will die on the vine unless several Mfgers get onboard .. Being a lever action the purchasing base is very small and highly unlikely to catch on with the masses ... IE the 308 marlin express or otherwise mostly UNKNOWN 308MX

I think that most firearms companies, once successful, ultimately desire to have a cartridge bearing their name. Not sure why, but most end up giving it a try. I am not afraid of trying a firearm chambered in a new cartridge offering because I like variety and I believe the Firearm/Cartridge companies must be the same. Winchester has more obsolete cartirdges bearing their name than they currently chamber. This has not slowed down the many new offerings as of late by many companies, mostly Hornady. Yes, I would like to see a .41 Henry Express! or 40-65 Henry. If it were produced, I would buy dies, brass and bullets for 1000 rounds and never look back!

I remember when the .17HMR came out. It almost died because Hornady was the only company making it. So you need both firearms manufacturers making firearms chambered for you "new" caliber but also several ammo companies selling the ammo.

Pretty much agree with some of the others that say it's risky business to introduce a lever gun specific cartridge. The track record for such cartridges in modern times has been pretty bleak. Think 7-30 Waters and the Winchester big bore cartridges like the 307 and 375, in addition to the Marlin attempts with the 444, 450 and others. You might see a box of factory ammo on these, now and then, but pretty much dead as a commercial successes, surviving as reloader's rounds in the hands of a few. Too bad, really, because some of these are GREAT cartridges. I applaud Henry for the new stuff they are trying, but I think the odds are very much against them if they go down this road.

Nice idea! But instead of a new caliber. Considering the lowly 22 rimfire is the cartridge that made "Henry Repeating Arms". I'd like to see some Henry branded match 22 ammo. For a long time 22's were all that Henry made.

Maybe Henry branded cowboy action ammo for centerfires in the common Calibers Henry sells. 357, 44mag/spl, 45/70.

Maybe offer some reasonably priced ammo in things like 44/40 for the original.

I'd love to see Henry add a 16 gauge to their shotgun line. Remington added a new semi auto 16 a couple of years ago. Make some reasonably priced ammo for it. 16 gauge is the ultimate gauge to take advantage of a light single shot field gun in my opinion.
