Was really cold this morning about 10 degrees, so not alot of rounds went down range. Did not want to sit at a bench to get on target, so I went right to the cowboy range and shot steel out to a little over 100yds. Most of my shots landed on target, so Henry must have the sights fairly close. Had a ball shooting this gun! Only have two nits to pick---first, the hammer has some sharp edges, nothing a little emery cloth and cold blue wont fix. Second, the lever when all the way forward has a noticeable amount of side play. I am going to go to the hardware store and get some shim stock and make my own small spacers(washers?) to fit in between the lever and the frame where the lever screw goes thru. I don't think I will find any washers thin enough so that is why I think I will need to make them out of shim stock. Overall I am thrilled with it and cannot wait to shoot some more. I can see Skinner sights and a Lyman globe front or a small Leuopold 1-4x in my future, I struggled with the buckhorns.

It sounds like you are well on the way to honing your rifle to suit you. Congratulations on your new Henry - I'm sure you'll get many years of enjoyment from it.

357 in a lever gun is just pure fun. Everyone who likes levers needs a 357 in one.

I'm thinking that a .357 Henry will be my next gun purchase. I really like the Big Boy carbine .357 with the octagonal barrel.
