Are no longer shiny. Got a friend with a sand blaster. I took all the screws out and carefully taped them up with painters tape (blue) and used glass beads to give them a brushed look. Looks better I think. The top 4 screws where the hardest to secure. Was not my first time using a sand blaster. Oiled them up and put them back in. I even got the back of the ejector and back of the carrier and trigger assembly screws.

Had a great range day with it today, Remington ammo, Buffalo Bore and Garrett ammo all shot great.

I don't normally name my guns but I've named this one "Gadsden" after American General Christopher Gadsden who designed the DONT TREAD ON ME flag in 1775.

After I fix the truck, stack the wood, clean the garage, mend the fences, arrange the attic, and change the tranny fluid in the Mustang, I am going to get on those screws on my Henry............

Thanks for the help. Should I be able to remove the bolt by swinging the lever down and removing the lever screw and lever? Have you performed this procedure on your rifle?

That is a really top job, and it compliments the all weather finish perfectly. You must be really pleased with how it turned out!

Hey Shootin Grapes,

Yes, you should be able to swing the lever down, remove the lever screw, remove the lever and then be able to pull the bolt out.

Do you have enough clearance between the top of the hammer and the bottom of the bolt?

Take a look at the picture of mine.

Here you can see that as I start to take the bolt out I still have clearance between the bottom of the hammer and the top of the receiver tang. Now as I pull the bolt further out the hammer has dropped down further to allow the bolt to come the rest of the way out. You can still see clearance between the bottom of the hammer and the top of the receiver tang.

Hop this helps, if you do not have these clearances call Henry and tell them, they will make it right.

Thanks Les, I really am pleased, it seemed to "finish" the gun pun intended, made it look more "custom".

I really appreciate the help. It looks like I'll be sending my rifle in. This is as far out the bolt goes before binding. It's a little hard to see, but the bolt is pushed up by the hammer.

Looks like there is no clearance at all. Henry will fix it.
