Just rescued this 30-30, from the used gun rack
Of a gun shop , way up north.
It has a bull barrel.have no idea what yr. It is ?

You should be able to get the year of manufacture by sending an email to Henry CS just give them the serial number.

Had a guy on another site
Tell me it's a first gen.
But I will contact Henry.
It will be going to my gun Smith for a good cleaning and a trigger job , soon. The number stamp is 336

Nice looking rifle with what looks like a Williams receiver peep sight. Is 336 the number on the gun or the sight?

It looks to be a Williams 5D top mount for a 336 Marlin. Differs from the Williams FP in that it adjusts manual and has no clicks to the adjustments. A little tricky to get zeroed but they work fine and are good sights except for when you change loads often then you go through the manual adjusting over again. Sometimes loads print close enough for hunting purposes that you need no adjustments. The 5D sells for about $40-45 dollars. When they came out the 5D number was actually the price back then.

The 336 is stamped on the site in the pic.
Iam headed to the range in a couple mins.
With all kinds of ammo .
Will see what she likes best.

Very nice find indeed. I would have rescued her too! Last Henry I came across on a used rack was a 22 magnum. One of the few calibers I refuse to rescue!

Well Iam back from my little ammo test.
The small target I posted at 40yds and shot , all the ammo at that , with out any site adjustment.
The PPU 170 gr. Hit low at 5 oclock
My first reload a of the 160 gr. Ftx. Shot low at 6 oclock
Fed blu.box 170. 6 o'clock in the bull
Hornady. 150 gr. White tail , 11 o'clock in the bull.
Winchester. Ballistic tip 150 gr. 9 o'clock in the 9 ring
I shot the Fed. And the white tail. At 75 yds and

This is. The 75 yd target The 3 rds. In the bull are from yesterday at 50yd.
The others right and left are Hornady 160 ftx.
And win 150 ballistic tips. And
Hornady 150 white tail s

I didn't adjust anything yet.
I have So many rifles that I want to carry this yr.
Deer hunting , my season opens this sat.
I dought I will get to carry this one.
But you never know.

Very neat that you got the "birthdate" of your Henry. Those CS folk at Henry always come through for us.

With no sight adjusts, your Range Report looks really great. I think you have just added a quality Henry .30-30 to your firearms cabinet!

Tonight I re-read through your entire thread, biglever, and noticed the picture you posted with your Henry-Case collector's edition knife next to your .30-30. Missed seeing that earlier. That's a really cool shot! I think I'll try taking some photos of my Henry SGC with my mini-Trapper, too.
