Broken firing pin

Was at the range yesterday shooting my Big Boy 357 50 yards, long distance to me. After about 50 rounds moved target to 25yards ,fired 10 rounds and action jammed and lever would not close. Took lever off, removed bolt and cleared ammo and reassembled, cocked lever and pulled trigger and nothing . Removed bo!t again and found a piece of firing pin on shooting bench. After lunch dropped rifle off at lgs where I bought rifle. This also happened to same rifle 4-5 years ago. Don't know how long will have to wait but wanted gun at lgs ASAP. Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow forum family members.

So, I had the same thing happen with my 357 and 45 colt. Henry now has a new bolt and firing pin set up. If you call them, they will give you a label to ship it back. Both guns took less than 10 days.
The two-piece firing pin was prone to this. It's now a single-piece setup.

DsGrouse. Do you know when the change was made? Recent or a couple years ago?

I do not. I do know they need the whole rifle as the must set headspace with the new bolt. My 357 got a new bolt, lever and tightened up. My 45 colt got a new bolt, new lever, and new springs. Iirc.
The difference between the two is easy to notice. If the bottom of your bolt has one solid piece at the notch it is the newer 1 piece firing pin. If it has a floppy dongle it is the two piece bolt.

As DsGrouse said, easier to call henry and have them send you a label. Box it up and drop it off or have UPS come to your house and get it. Henry will have it delivered back to your front door in just over a week or two. Dropping it off at the LGS seems to take longer.

Rifle was taken to lgs for repair before my initial post. Will be shooting a Golden Boy in the mean time. Glad to have a few 22lr on hand.
