I got bullets from Montana Bullet works. His bullets are outstanding. I also used the short brass only because thats what I already had. I also had good luck with Reloader 7 around 26 grains if Im not mistakin. Im not at home right now so I cant look for sure. Plinkin loads I was using 5744 with a 245 or 255 gr cast. About 19 to 20 grains. The Reloader 7 load would be a gas check bullet and a hunting load. I love 38-55 and its like 41 mag it doesnt get much respect.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

A 38-55 lever gun is what I wanted when I bought my Marlin .375 but no one was making one then. I still have the .375, lots of brass , a bullet mould, reloading dies and a box and a half of 220 jacketed slugs.
