My BBX 357 Journey

Post by Gault » Sun Jan 07, 2024 5:45 pm

I picked up my Big Boy X last week and got a chance to try it out today. I am rather impressed.

I figured I could create a thread to document my journey with it. I bought it because as I get older, I wanted something to keep handy for four and two legged predators that was easier to handle.

I added a Skinner low profile rail and an Athlon Midas LE red dot. The Midas is the previous generation, so it was dirt cheap from the Athlon outlet. Added a X300 light, paracord sling, and wrapped the handle in black paracord. I wanted the wrap tighter, so I removed the inner stings. I think it turned out well.

Still getting my reload supplies together, so I tried some Federal American Eagle 158 JSP. It shot rather well.

It took a bit to get the sight dialed as it was shooting pretty low, and I over corrected. The one target has a few holes in it, I shot the one to see if I was close at 50, then shot one at 100, and moved back to fifty and shot 4 more. The 4 touching are the last 4.

All in all, pretty happy with it.

On Target says the 4 shot group is .994 MOA

100 yard target. On target says hole is .541 from point of aim.

Sure is nice when one gets everything all set up just how you want it.

I've been looking at adding an All Weather but maybe an X might be nice as well.

It’s my favorite and by far most accurate in the safe. I’m thinking of getting a second just to back it up.
