Henry 45-70 and using a tang sight?

Okay so I’m wanting to replace the factory sight, my 43 year old eyes and it are not friends.
I have a skinner sight on my Marlin 336 and love it, but I’m wanting to do a tang sight like a lymen on the 45-70.
I’ve got a question about it.
Once installed does it have to be lowered to work the lever?
I’ve had a tang sight on my old sharps (don’t have it anymore). I like the sight radius and the old look of the tang sights on a western looking gun. I’m just wondering if it will work on this gun.

I don't see why it would get in the way of the lever unless you mounted it upside down.

Probably depends on if the tang sight mounts forward or rearwards of the top tang screw. Too close to call on whether or not the bolt would hit the sight when working the lever.

Travelin Cowboy,
Sorry for the confusion what I should have said is “when I work the lever, will the bolt collide with the sight therefore forcing me to lay the sight back every time I cycle the action”.

Would love to see Henry build a 45/70 with a very long barrel and pre-drilled for Tang sites . . .
