Henry barrel finishes

Post by Wabash kid » Wed Jul 05, 2023 11:10 pm

Hi All,
I have a Henry Bigboy in .357, and the other day I got a very small scratch on the barrel. I want to touch it up with a touch up blueing pen. But I’ve heard Henry doesn’t use a regular blueing on their barrels. If this is true any recommendations on how to hide the scratch will be greatly appriciated.
Thanks,
Paul

If it's as you say, a very small scratch, I would not worry about it and move on. I think all of us have been disappointed a time or two from various blemishes on our rifles, but, it's going to happen. In time, I don't think you'll worry too much about it anymore. JMO.
BTW, I have I small dent on the butt stock of my BBS 357 that was caused by my EDC on my hip. I hated when it happened, but now, I don't even think about it or notice it.

You might be able to find one of those touch up bluing pens. Yeah they call it bluing but it looks black.

I use Van's instant gun blue. Works great and blends perfectly. Follow the directions, easy to use.
