I need a brake

I'd like to put a brake on my X-Model 45-70 and after looking around a bit there seems to be two options. The first is the one made by Hughes Precision on the Henry website. The other is the Comet that Ranger Point sells. Has anyone here used either of them? If so, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

If you plan on getting a can here is one i use with mu bushwacker 46 v2.

Incidentally, a can will decrease the recoil significantly.

I am not certain how well this would work with .45/70, it was great with hot .44 Mag loads. You might want to contact Kaw Valley and ask.

Is there anyone still doing "Mag-an-port"? I believe it was initially for magnum-powered handguns, then became very commonplace in Skeet and trap, 12 gauge shotguns, and from time to time you would see them in rifles. The ports would be cut into the original barrel. Thus eliminating the need to add a two or three-inch "Donkey Dick" extension on the end of the barrel . . .

Just for the discussion, I'll offer some things I learned with compensators on handguns. And I'm posting because there is a lot of "grey area" between the definitions of a compensator and a muzzle brake.
I had a .45 built up for Bullseye, and bowling pins, and steel plates, and basically general purpose target shooting. I wanted a compensator because that seemed to be the hot new thing at the time. The guy building it for me said he wanted to know what I'd be doing most, and he'd set the comp up for that. His reason was that bullseye uses much lighter loads than you'd use for pins, and that meant that the comp would have a lot less gas to work with. I'll admit that I never thought of it in that context. He said that the .38 Super comps worked best because those were much higher pressure loads, and much more gas to work with. I'm thinking that a .45-70 may follow that same path as the lighter bullseye loads, especially with it being a former black power cartridge and not generating as much pressure.
So if you want a brake for the uniquness of having one, all well and good, but if you are looking for recoil reduction, and possibly reduction of muzzle rise, then having something designed to work with 45-70 class cartridges is worth looking into. They're not all created equal.
As for magnaport, the shotgun porting works amazingly well. A buddy had a .375JDJ Contender with porting and that didn't kick anywhere near what I though it would, but I don't have all that much experience with it beyond that.
