Model X 30-30 watermarks on receiver

Post by LeverX10 » Wed May 10, 2023 5:14 pm

Just put on a rail for my new Model X and noticed that there is some staining/watermarking on the receiver. Should I try to get this out (rubbing with cloth won't do anything) with a cleaner or should I contact Henry?

What cleaners are good for the receivers of these Model X

Looks like residue from cleaning solvent. Try wiping with a lightly oiled cloth.

Can you recommend a good receiver cleaner for the model x?

I agree with an oil wipe. I like Tetra:

I usually just wipe steel receivers down with an oiled cloth. If I have a stubborn powder stain or tree pitch then Hoppe's #9.

I do similar to Mags. Little oil on a rag.

The guy at the Gun Blue 490 youtube channel uses simple, inexpensive Mineral Oil, and his advice seemed sound, so I do the same. I put a tiny amount of that oil on a clean t-shirt rag, and it works well for me.
