.360 Buckhammer anyone?
.360 Buckhammer anyone?
Received an email from Henry today saying that they're going to be introducing a new Henry steel and X models in .360 Buckhammer.
Official release at the NRA annual meeting next weekend.
They are also going to be putting side gates in the brass receivers.

Re: .360 Buckhammer anyone?
I've seen a fair amount of discussion (good and not so..) on this in several forums but don't recall the dimensions of this new cartridge.

It has the 1.8" length straight case for some of those states that have limitation, and the best part for me is the use of a .358 bullet.

Re: .360 Buckhammer anyone?
50,000 pressure in a rear locking levergun? I must be reading this wrong.
Re: .360 Buckhammer anyone?
Do we know if it is rear locking for sure? It might use a rotating bolt lock design similar to used in the Long Ranger.

Re: .360 Buckhammer anyone?
There is video of a man shooting onc and it is the same action as a Marlin 336 or a Henry Big Boy. Look it up it's not hard to find. I would post a link but that is way above my skill level.
Re: .360 Buckhammer anyone?
The 92 action as in Rossi Puma and the Big Horn in 50 S&W is a lot stronger action because of the two locking lugs that slide in square notches in the receiver and the bolt. it is in fact a scaled down 1886 action . Come on guys I should not have to explain this to a levergun forum. We all know about the types of lever actions.
Re: .360 Buckhammer anyone?
I have never seen any factory ammunition that listed pressure. Until the powder manufacturers list reloading data it’s not a concern.

Re: .360 Buckhammer anyone?
The link that Mags posted right at the left top "pressure = 50,000" .
Re: .360 Buckhammer anyone?
Thats the SAAMI spec drawing for the Buckhammer in that post.
Factory Ammo packaging doesn't list Max Pressure.

Re: .360 Buckhammer anyone?
Factory drawing yes but why would they post specs for the cartridge that are not true? That is the standard pressure just like it would be for a .45 Colt or .38 Special cartridge etc. Of course they don't list pressure on the ammo box outside of maybe +P I have never seen pressure listed on the consumer cartridge box.
Re: .360 Buckhammer anyone?
50,000 max psi could be true. .30-30 spec is up there at 42,000 max psi. Both Henry and Marlin .30-30 use a rear locking bolt. With another 8000 psi maybe a rear locking bolt design in the Buckhammer is achievable.
