44 Magnum is in and dressed
Apart from needing a replacement lace for the butt stock cuff (snapped while tightening things down), my new Henry is ready for the range.
Rundown on things done:
- RPP lever and butt stock takedown screws
- RLO leather butt stock cuff
- RPP hammer extension
- RPP rhino rail
- Warne low QD rings
- Primary Arms SLX 1-6x (illuminated Nova reticle)
The combination of the low rings and the cheek riser on the cuff is perfect. No need to get by with a chin weld. I went with the QD rings so I can play around with the irons when I want to as well (very likely going to be switching out the buckhorn for a skinner dovetail peep, but we'll see). Can't wait to shoot it.

Ranger Point Precision takedown screw to remove the butt stock easily.
The intent is to use a backpack case typically used for SBRs to transport. It'll be easier to tuck under the back seat of the truck. With the butt stock removed, the length of the carbine is reduced to about 26.5".

Re: 44 Magnum is in and dressed
Went to the range and sighted in at 50 yds. Basically determined that any lack of accuracy in the future is going to be 100% on me. Will stretch to 100 yds next time. Pictures are my best three shot groups.
This was shooting from a bench, hand supporting the fore end on top of a bag. Shooting 240gr Underwood XTP.

Nice shootin, that Underwood ammo is some good stuff.
If you can find some Cor bon, that's another very good ammo co.

Nice job, I see you have a primary arms scope on yours. Never used any of them before and was wondering how they hold up over time to recoil ?

So far so good. Only 80 rounds in, so we'll see. It's built solid, so I feel pretty confident in it.Silver Belly62 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 8:07 amNice job, I see you have a primary arms scope on yours. Never used any of them before and was wondering how they hold up over time to recoil ?
I'm really liking the fine dot illuminated reticle. It's nice in the daylight, but will really help during those dawn/dusk hunting hours where the reticle can tend to disappear against a deer.
