Nice, I really love the looks of the saddle rings. To me it just sets the rifle off.

I have an older Red Ryder that my dad got when he was 11. That was back in 1941. It also has a saddle ring, and I always wondered what the purpose of a "saddle ring" was. I surmised that it was a way to secure the rifle in the scabbard while riding horseback, but I never knew for sure.

I believe that the saddle ring was to tie a loop of rawhide through and so put that loop over the saddle horn to get to the carbine quicker as in cavalry .
