Custom Large Loop

Post by ctdair » Tue Jan 24, 2023 7:21 pm

Have a First Generation Big Boy. Factory large loops will not fit. At one time on this forum or maybe another a member was modifying standard loops into custom large loops. Any contact info would be appreciated.

1st generation big boy rifles are drilled and tapped under the rear sight. Later big boys are drilled and tapped on the top of the receiver.

Well then, mine must be a 1st gen. as I haven't seen any tapped holes.
But I've never removed the rear sight either.
If this is true, then I don't see why the lever didn't swap.
As I just done mine a few years back, I swapped my reg. loop to forty for his large loop.
It fit like a glove, and have had no issue with it.

Confirm date of manufacture with Henry.
11/01/2005. I don’t see any tapped holes under sight. Description on Henry’s website called out loops won’t fit rifles before a certain Serial #.
I previously confirmed over the phone that the offered large loop will not fit my Henry.

Well, I just dug mine out of the back of the safe.
No holes under the rear sight of mine either.
I forget the month, I have it wrote down, but
believe it was Oct., or Dec. of, and I know '07.
Sorry, I can't help on a custom loop.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I can't imagine what changes they made in that area, or why ?
I would like to see the difference in the two levers.

My bad, I thought you were talking about straight stocked pistol caliber rifles.
Never owned a pistol gripped Henry.
All of my Rifle caliber lever guns are Marlin and Winchester.
