Just Bought A 357 Big Boy Classic
Re: Just Bought A 357 Big Boy Classic
Welcome and congratulations on your 357 they are a popular caliber. Like mine. I agree with Rifletom about the 45 Colt, tat is another nice caliber but I had to set up hand loading for ammunition. But that is enjoyable too.

I just got the Henry rifle bag delivered from Henry today. My Big Boy Classic shipped but is not scheduled to be delivered to my FFL until 11/25. Then I have a 10 day waiting period before I can pick it up. It is going to be a LOOOOONG few weeks....

California's waiting period sucks. I loved the first time I bought a gun in Mo. Fill out the form and 15 minutes later out the door. I didn't know how to act.

Oregon's waiting period is now indefinite.

I live in the People's Republic of California and our Supreme Ruler does not like firearms or those who own them. Not trying to get political, but everyone already knows California is a tough state for gun owners.

Washington's waiting period for picking up a gun is pretty confusing.
If you are purchasing/transferring a bolt, break, lever, or pump action rifle or shotgun, your background check will be run in-house; upon approval, the firearm will be released to you that day.
So you could pick up your Henry the same day.
The King County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the law does not allow a licensed dealer to deliver any firearm to a purchaser or transferee until either the background check is completed, or 10 business days have passed since the request (whichever is earlier.)
If the customer or transferee does not have a valid permanent Washington driver’s license or state identification card, or has not been in the state continuously for the past three months, that 10 days gets extended to 60.
Any semi-auto rifle/shotgun (they like to call them semi-auto assault weapons, even a Ruger 10/22 is considered an assault weapon) or any hand gun requires a completed background check or a 10 days waiting period. The 10 day wait is at the FFL's discretion, they can wait past the 10 days to deliver if they want to.
Since they now require the local police to start the background check the actual time it takes is still just about instant but depending on your location it probably sits on someone's desk for a week or more before it gets submitted. My FFL told me they often call them on the 11th day and then receive the approval the next day.

Re: Just Bought A 357 Big Boy Classic
My dad is teaching me how to reload and he has a nice Dillion setup with everything needed for some common calibers. My 10 day wait is over on 12/8 and I can't wait to bring it home. Is a Henry Big Boy 45 chambered in 45 Long Colt or ACP?

.45 Colt. For a larger cartridge, the Colt is really mild mannered in recoil, especially in a rifle. Enjoy your Henry
