That’s a sweet rifle. Yeah, the picture distortion is a pain. Prevents me from uploading many pics. Congrats on the CCH 45-70. That’s one I want and don’t have. The only time I have actually seen one in a shop, I had to choose between it and the matched pair to my 357 Blackhawk, which was near impossible to find at the time. I went back to buy it when I picked up the 357 and it was gone. Haven’t seen one on a rack since.

It is a chemical CCH. It would be wise to keep it oiled up just like you do any blued rufle after use. Beautiful rifle and I would love to have one like it. Congratulations. Just Beautiful.

That is a beauty of a 45-70 lever rifle and congrats! Is the barrel length 20 inch?
As far as I know that is real deal CCH done by Bobby Tyler Gunworks who was doing the treatment for Henry production rifles. Here is a mention

I purchased a new CCH 45 Colt Carbine maybe 2 yrs. ago and talked with Bobby about doing the CCH to the lever which he did at that time free of charge. My .357 Henry Carbine looks similar to yours. Enjoy that beast and if you reload for 45-70 and just want some easy plinking loads try a cast 405 gr. lead bullet with 13-14 gr. of Unique. Mild shooting but still carries a punch!
The .45-70 is one caliber I don't have in a Henry but do own a Marlin 1895 GS and a 1885 Uberti High Wall single shot.

Yeah...that Henry is a great confidence builder when you in the woods! Panther49's 45-70 would look good next to it!

Fortyshooter asked "That is a beauty of a 45-70 lever rifle and congrats! Is the barrel length 20 inch?"
No, it's 22".
It's very similar in balance and handling to the 1895 Marlin I had before. That is to say, it feels a little front heavy, at least for my advancing age.
Originally I was looking for a shorter barrel rifle, precisely because of the reason above.
I'm new to Henry, although I was familiar with their products and admired them. But I was a Marlin man and in fact I liked very much the aesthetics of the longer barrel lever actions.
I had sold most of my Marlins except one (a very special one to me, more on that in the future), and why??????
I was scaling down and kept the stuff that I liked the most.
When I sold the 1895 it was to buy a different 45-70 maybe a single shot, or something else.
I was taken by the new Ruger/Marlin 1895 SBL, even though it was a modern interpretation of the genre. BUT, nowhere to be found or at outrageous prices!!
Then I saw this rifle! and could not resist!!!
In the photo below from top:
Marlin 1895 45-70
Marlin 444 Aniversary
Marlin 336 35 Rem Carabine
Marlin 336 30-30
And my Winchester Mod 71 De Luxe made 1936 348 Cal
The only Marlin left in the safe is the 35 Rem
