H006M

Post by JimCunn » Fri Sep 16, 2022 9:31 am

Several months ago, I gave my grandson a Golden Boy. I was much impressed with the finish and buttery smooth action, so yesterday I got myself a Big Boy .357 Magnum H006M.

Very disappointing. Stock had a gouge and was also irregularly shaped near a knot. Magazine tube was very rough, and the action was sloppy loose, noisy, and felt like it had sand in it, Trigger was heavy, but OK. Will shoot it this weekend. I am optimistic though. Fancy furniture will take care of the gouge and knot. And I think some shims, Marlin springs, and a few wipes with an Arkansas stone will go a long way toward curing the lousy action. The gun itself is rather attractive.

Sorry to hear that. My Big Boy Steel in .357 is wonderful both in fit and finish and in smoothness and accuracy. Hope yours smooths up.

You should contact Henry CS with the list of issues you have. They'll take care of it.

I'm sure they would, but I can take care of it myself in a couple of hours.
I actually like the rifle - it is very nice looking.

I can understand. I look at one a few years ago. I was not crazy about finish; it was not as polished as expected. Plus, I was leaning toward something with a side loading gate. So, I left it there. I ended up with a Marlin 1894CS. So far, I am happy with it. Hopefully, it will shoot fine for you!

Hopefully so. I looked all over the Memphis metro area today for some 158gr .357 ammo.
Finally found 70 rounds for $109. I'll take my time searching for more......
I'll take it out to the farm this weekend and try it out.

Yes, finding .357 ammo locally has been a challenge for me also. Most times, I use online sites (a few links below). Prices may not be the best. But, availability is okay. Anyway, happy shooting!
