Loading Gate Techniques

Post by iceman-cometh » Fri Jun 17, 2022 8:42 am

This is pretty basic, but...I had some difficulties aligning .38 Special rounds so they would load easily and quickly through the gate on my new Big Boy. Do I want them pretty flat against the receiver, at a sharp angle to the gate, a shallow angle? The rounds I have are decent PMC Bronze, 132 grain, FMJ's. I got them loaded and they fired properly, but I am thinking there must be a technique that I just don't know. Is there a video or drawings? Thanks. :(

flat against the side gate, push sidegate down insert the first round 1/2 way. use the second, third, fourth etc round to push the previous into the tube. The last round is the only one you need to push all the way in.

That’s the way I do it.
