Henry prices

I saw a new Henry BBS 30-30 in a LGS for $694. No sidegate. I have only seen two other Henry BBS on dealers shelves in 6 months, they were sidegate 44mag and priced at $1000. Is the sidegate worth that much? Is it the caliber?

I could load 30-30 rounds thru the tube all day to save $300. That seems like a pretty good price nowadays. You looking to get it?

I was tempted by the price, but a 30/30 is kinda useless here in Ohio

Was the sidegate in the same store as the 30-30

No, that could make a difference.

When Henry replaced My BBS 357 they said they replaced it with a side gate because the tube only has been discontinued. I am not sure if they have done that for the 30-30 but it may have been sitting in a warehouse for a while. Every Henry I have seen around here in centerfire has been close to $1000 and some a bit north of that.

I paid a little bit more than that for my H009 30-30 in 2017, and it was a new 2015 model. It was a little high. But, it had a nice finish. So, I took it home. If you are in the market, seems like a good price to me. As for cost difference, I think BigAl hit the nail on the head.

It’s been hit or miss, today there were 5 or 6 different Henry’s at the range/store but there’s been none for months. My suggestion is to wait until you see exactly what you want but do not procrastinate because they don’t stay on shelves long. I have a side gate 30-30 but don’t use it as not to scratch it up. The tube works just fine.

Wish I was closer to Ohio, my next firearm purchase will hopefully by a Henry 30-30. That would fit the bill perfectly.

I don’t hunt. All my guns (especially my rifles) are used for/in competitions. We have several “woods walks” here in Michigan, some specifically for lever guns. I use my 30-30 to know the snot of steel plates out to 80 or so yards. Both hand loads (reduced loads) and factory.

There was a Henry steel 30-30 in the store the other day that was manufactured at the end of January 2022. It was priced at $729 and did not have a side gate.

I bought my Axe at 15% off MSRP which surprised me because they are so scarce. I think maybe the discount is because the ammo is even more scarce.

I was recently in a store that had 4 Henrys, the most I've seen in one spot in quite a while.
They had two single shot shotguns, a golden boy, and the reg. 410 lever, it was $799.
I didn't look at the others.

yeah, I have been looking for a 45lc and 357 big boy x. I found an LC put up with a by it now at retail and bought it a few weeks back. I have yet to find a 357 not 350-400 over retail, some are higher than that. Sorry, I have no interest in paying that kind of price.

That is about what I paid for mine in 2017, and it was a 2015. Did I get robbed? I did not think so. I believe MSRP was $850 or so back then. Yet, it was still more than I wanted to pay. But, it had a nice finish. So, I took it home. No regrets. Shoots any 30-30 ammo that I put in it well. So, all is good.
