Replacing the stock on big boy x

Post by DsGrouse » Sun Mar 06, 2022 8:21 am

Does anyone know if there is a wood replacement for the aweful plastic stocks on the big boy x models?

I am sure that the standard wood furniture will fit, there are not any differences in the metal. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I like mine because I don’t have to worry about trashing it from rough use. If I wanted a pretty Henry I would just buy a traditional one with brass frame…

Though I would actually prefer that the BBX came with the All Weather finish. I am not a fan of the black steel.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I get that. for me, i shoot almost exclusively suppressed on my property. So, having the barrel threaded is a very favorable option. I would like an all-weather with its extra barrel length compared to the x.

I am unwilling to pay the 1600 for the 357, and 1400 the 45lc are going for on gunbroker.

Not sure if any others will fit.
There is a significant difference between the BBB & the BBS on the upper tang.
And I have never seen an X in person so I don't know if it is like either of those models.

Here you can see the difference, the BBB's is straight and the BBS has a step out near the hammer.
Maybe that will help out a little.

Awesome thanks for the tip. It looks like the h012, and h012c may fit.

going by the picture above.
https://www.henryusa.com/rifles/big-boy ... side-gate/
and the h012/h012c stock.

My only worry then is the forend stock for the big boy x.

One other reason I like the plastic stock is that I keep a tacticool light on the front rail, if I am going to encounter a bear at my campsite, it is definitely going to be after sunset. That beats trying to hold a light in my mouth, or asking my terrified spouse to hold it for me…. a barrel mounted light with a broad beam and tight center hotspot is super easy to use, you just put the bright spot on the target and let loose, no sights needed. If it is a large target and is close in. That is why I also have one on my daily carry pistol.

I spoke with henry rep on the phone. They are working, looking for a solution for those of us who don't care for the plastic stocks.

As of right now, no one set up is going to allow you to change it over. You would need the Ho12/ho12c for the forend, and Ho10 for the buttstock.

I will see what I think when my 45c big boy x gets here.
