I have ben on the hunt for a X model in 45 Colt. I didn't want to get caught up in the auctions so I just watching what the local shops had. Yesterday on the way home from work I stopped in Cabela's and low and behold the one and only X 45 that just came in was on the rack. After waiting 3 hrs for the PA "Insta Check" to go through I brought it home. During the wait I also picked up the only set of dies they had for it, so it had to be meant to be.

Congrats Rob, wow 3 hrs. I'd say the insta check is an oxy moron.
I myself don't care for the X model, but to each his own, glad you were able to find one.
Glad you found one, do you have powder and primers?

Congrats on the new Henry. Waiting 3 hours to buy a gun is ridiculous. I recently bought a shotgun here in Texas. I dont live in Texas but it was easier to buy one in Texas than in my home state of Colorado. No phone call or computer wait for a background check here pay and go.

Congrats on your 45 colt. I haven't seen any 45 colt ammo in a long time so I can understand buying the dies.

Congrats, I am jealous. It is a toss up for me. The big boy x in 45c, or the all weather side gate and have the barrel threaded.

They didnt do one on me. I handed them my conceal carry permit from Colorado and Dr lic. I was good to go. If you have a conceal carry permit why do they even need to do a check. Its already been done to get the pemit

I don't know...but here in Va. I have a CCW permit and still have to do the Federal and State paperwork but my background check goes thru instantly.
Surprised how that shop gets around the Federal paperwork.

Good for you, enjoy your new toy. I have the AW model and it's great fun to hold and shoot.

I filled out the standard form for buying one but didnt stand around the shop while they sent the info into a center for final approval is what I am referring to. In colorado after filling out the forum you may wait in the gun shop for a period of time until whatever info they send to a center is approved. I think that is BS if you have a conceal carry permit.

Same thing here in TN, Al.
I asked a FFL that question once, he just gave some lame excuse.
Al, they even charge you 10 bucks to do it.
Most times it only takes a few mins.

Thanks everyone. I do have ammo from when I had a Blackhawk, I also have primers. The hunt for powder will start soon.

Unique and Red dot have worked very well for me.
Good luck with the search, as I haven't seen either in a while.

Universal works well also. Along with the other two mentioned.
