Heard from Cabela's that my Henry long ranger 223/556 Nato should be in Mid January. That will make if about 5 months from order. That's ok since I've heard it's an 11 month lag time because of the massive run on thier guns. That's cool. Got the scope I'm going to put on it ready and may set it up for one of the programed zeros on my sightmark wrait 4/32x50 HD night vision scope. I've taken hogs with 223 and 556 more than anything else. Regardless of what people say, it's drops them like a rock. I'll be trying my grendel first on the hogs to see how far I can reach out with it and drop.
Anyhoooo. I'll post a pic when it comes in and leave it up.

My Grendel is in the AR15 upper variety in SS. Have the sightmart Wraith Hd 4-32x56 night vision. I'll be using the Grendel for Hog hunting and I will zero and load the long ranger 223 on one of the wraiths programed guns. I will try it for hogs. I've killed a lot of them with my Colt 6920 223/556 so it might be way cool killing them with the Henry. Most our shots are inside a 100 yds but I put the wraith on the grendel to stretch it out and see how that bullet will do at distance.

PS. Cofisher: Thank you for posting on my thread. It's like pulling teeth to get anyone interested on my threads. Figured they were just that dull...Ha. Not sure how many more I'll put up if there's just no response.

Brando, what bullet you use on them hogs?
I've 3 deer with the 223, a 62 gr HP.
I've got another pretty accurate 62 gr SP load for my Savage.

Brando, no problemo. I built a Grendel frankenbuild last spring. Still getting to know it. Glad to hear of your success. I am planning a deer hunt in January.

I’ve taken several with my 357 Henry. Thought I might like to stretch out a bit with the Grendel.

What’s the twist rate on the Henry Long Ranger .223. I’ve had some great results with 69 grain and 77 grain Sierra Matchking in 1-9 twist barrels. Matchkings are not recommended for hunting due to no expansion but hunting style bullets in these weights are available. Nice thing with the Long Ranger is you could possible extend the bullet length somewhat and dial in some incredible accuracy.

Even if you don’t get a response know we do read posts and enjoy doing so. I don’t reply to every post but I read them and gain knowledge on some and entertainment on the others. Keep on posting…..

The Savage Axis I have has the 1-9, but so far the heaviest I've tried are the 62's.
I have a box of some 77 gr factory, but have yet to try them.
I should dig them out.

Twist rate 1:9 and from what I've seen, sub moa. I reload so I'll develop a load for this at some point. I also do my own bullets so that too will be fun to figure out what works best.
I bought two new mag's to go with the one that will come with the gun. That's not bad with 15 rounds plus one in the chamber when you start.
I look forward to having it.
Shot my Henry Pump action 22 and my Henry .17 hmr varmint today. Also shot a some 9 mm from my CZ P07 and Shadow 2. Got a fair deal on 250 rounds of fmj remington 9mm for 99 bucks and a couple of boxes of cci 22lr for 4 buck a box of 50. Had some extra .17 so I shot a bit and still never touch my stash...Which is a good thing. For the person that mentioned, I'll post a pic of the long ranger when it comes in a maybe a few of the other Henrys. I'll include the AR grendel as well

Hit them in the neck and it won't matter the gr. If you have a head on shot, don't take it at a longer range. Their skulls are thick. Ha.
Side hit behind the shoulder mid way up is good but seems the neck is the best shot.
I've killed them with most 55 gr 223 same as the standard on 556
