I was looking at Guns International this morning and there was a couple 41 mags and a 327 for sale. I love my 41. I would like to have the 327, but funds don't include another purchase

Henry BB 41 mag was in my LGS yesterday. The new owner was just walking out the door with it as I walked in. Don't know what he paid for it.

Love my 41, plan on hunting with it some this deer season.

One thing that forced my hand to buy mine was I heard Henry was going to discontinue the 41. Maybe bad info, which is fine.

The problem with .41 mag is that it's somewhat of a boutique ammo/caliber. Which means it's far behind other more popular calibers in terms of production volume and sales. And it's relatively expensive off the shelf, if you can even find it, in some configurations over $2/rnd. You won't find a single AR or other popular gun chambered in .41, although I'd like to see a .41ACP cartridge produced. I think the only semi-auto that used to run the rimmed .41 is the Desert Eagle.

Bottom line is that unless it can compete in the public caliber popularity contest it's eventually going to disappear, and guns for it will also stop being made. Right now, I'd advise buying the rifle (or 2+ ) and stocking up on ammo and/or reloading supplies for it, as a long term investment.

Gunny, I have the Henry, and a Ruger BH both in 41.
I have two molds, a 210, and 270 gr, and no telling how much brass.
And maybe even a couple hundred jacketed bullets, but I mostly stick with the cast stuff.

Same as me except for the reloading, which I've never gotten into.

I dont care what it does or doesnt do on the shelf. The people that like the 41 I believe like it because its different and is a good performer. I have a Ruger Blackhawk and the Henry BBS. Bought one of the first ones that came out. I love mine and its a great shooter. They can lean it up against the tree where they throw my ashes because it aint goin anywhere

I'm not knocking the merits of the .41. It's a terrific caliber in several ways. I'm going at this purely from a manufacturer's "return on investment" perspective. If the product doesn't contribute to the bottom line, it will go away no matter if it's ammo & guns, or phones & sneakers. Why do you suppose Henry decided to not offer the .41mag in the side gate configuration? I'll tell you why - the $$ wasn't there. S&W offers only one model in .41 mag (Model 57), and multiple models in every other caliber right up to .500SW. These are pure business decisions, nothing more. For the last 20 years or so, high capacity, low cost, low recoil, semi-autos have ruled the firearms/ammo/accessory business, because that's what the vast majority of people wanted - including LE and Military. CEO's respond to that, because making money and growing is their primary job.

I agree with the business sense prospective. I just figured there was someone out there with incurable 41 Maggie disease, like me, that might be glad a couple surfaced. As far as stocking up on ammo and components. No matter what calibers we own if we don't have a lifetime supply already we are in trouble. Shooting for fun will be a rich mans entertainment.

Probably, except for BB guns and slingshots.

I recently sold a Winchester 9422m that I bought new in 1973. They quit making them in 1994. Asked $1200, and the buyer didn't even try to bargain it down, just pulled out a roll of Benjamins and counted them out. I probably could have asked a few hundred more, but what the heck.

PS: As far as I know, Henry is the only company still making a .41 mag rifle. Rossi, Winchester, & Marlin bailed. This is one reason I think a Henry in .41mag would be a good long term investment. I'm even thinking about buying the brass model and not taking it out of the box, since I already have a BBSC .41 for a shooter.

I got your point loud and clear and agree. Im merely stating a view of why 41 lovers love there 41. Its a larger following than it use to be but still not big enough to support continued production from a business stand point. I give Henry a big atta boy for even trying it. If it goes away all together so be it. I have all the components to be able to load it the rest of my days left here on earth.

I have both rifles mostly because I like items that are a little bit different. There’s nothing the 41 can do that the 44 can do and do cheaper and there’s almost nothing the 327 can do that the 357 can do and again do it cheaper. One advantage to the .327 in a pocket revolver is due to the smaller diameter the manufacturer can get six shots into the same size revolver as a five shot 38/357.

I’m set up to reload both calibers so the ammo costs which are very high don’t apply to me and really, if someone was interested in these calibers it would be best to be a reloader.

Back when I was a Marlin collector I found locally the unicorn of the 1894 which is the 1894FG 41 mag. I bought it at a reasonable price and when I sold it several years later I sold for several hundred dollars more than I paid for it. If Henry quits the 41 completely they will definitely have a price increase over msrp but to the Marlin level I don’t know. There are “probably” more Henry’s out there than Marlins.

Don't know how long they'll be there. Could be they're just trying to get rid of some inventory, and when that's gone that'll be the end of .41, and .327.

I read this post to my wife and she thought I wrote it. You have my guns and spoke my words, exactly.

My favorite wheel gun of all times is the old Ruger BH in .41 Mag that my buddies dad owned. His ashes have been scattered and I’m not sure what ever happened to his guns, but man, that thing was a joy to shoot. I could actually hit things with it too!

Yep, Ruger did a SA wheelie like it should be with the BH series.
