That’s some beautiful country but like you said, hard to hunt. Love the pics.

Thanks Hatch. I’m glad you like the photos. It’s definitely different than “The Dry Side” where you are. I grew up 1/2 mile north of the border in Rossland, and still hunt turkeys there every spring and fall, so I know and love your climate too. We are heading towards RanchRopers neck of the woods soon, so I’ll be sure to bring my camera and take lots of photos. Apparently it’s been a phenomenal grouse year in the eastern part of B.C., and with my second bird dog in the house, I hope it’s a good one!

A couple of weeks ago my cousin was up in the Selkirk mountains area and took a drive up some roads. Said he was constantly stopping for and in one case had to get out and herd some grouse off the road. Looks to be a good grouse year around here too. Good luck! :D

The Henry in the first pic is a carbine, right ? The carbines have a 16.5" barrel.

Looks like the same kind of black timber/blowdown stuff that I hunt in a lot. Have you considered a single shot? Short overall, but you keep a 22 inch barrel.

I thought the same thing when I read the first post. Have you thought about the Single Shot. Light and handy easy to operate. Really like mine in 357

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Lordy! I am too old to hunt in that stuff. I'd have to lay down next to the deer and hope someone comes along to drag us both out of the woods.

I had a buddy take one of my Marlin 336's in 35 Rem. and cut it down to 16.5", I love it, handy in the thick stuff.
And the last deer I shot with it didn't know the difference. ;)
We were going to do a Winchester I have but we never got to it, and now he's gone.
