Ok, that's about what Unique and Universal load to. Was curious. Thanks!Ceapea wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 9:13 pm6.8 gr Red Dot fills ~1/3 the case. That is a 1.277" case. I specify that because I have once fired, factory brass from Hornady that ranges in length from 1.220", to 1.287"!! And Starline too, that brass ranges 1.242"-1.285"
That 1.277" case held 19.6 gr Red Dot filled to the rim, and not compressed at all...just poured loosely into the case.
Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry

Re: 2nd Henry centerfire
So I found another great load in this Henry as well as in my Jap Winchester 1873.
Missouri Bullet Co. coated 185 gr LSWC over 9.5 gr Unique, at 1.565"...Super tack driver from both rifles. I just won a woods walk using the Henry, hitting 48/50 steel plates out to 70 yd. There were two 4" plates at 50 yd that I hit all 10 rd fired on them. I missed a 4" plate @ 60 yd 2 out of 5 times. I just loaded up 30 rd using the same bullet and trying 9.0 gr Universal...since my Unique stash is drying up. And I have approx. 12#-14# of Universal. So, since it performs so closely to Unique, if I can duplicate the 9.5 gr Unique load, I'll be good for some time! I just ordered 1500 more of the MB coated bullets.

Congrats on your victory. Not sure what a woods walk is but if it’s what I think, walking thru a woods course shooting targets at different distances that sounds like a good time.

I changed out the sights to help my aging eyes. Marbles Bullseye rear and fiber optic front. Sooooo much better!! Everyone that tried the sights, loved them. Same height front sight, for those that might be wondering.
I can't believe the way "fuzz" shows up in these pictures. I didn't see it in the normal viewing size on my phone!

I recently purchased the same rifle. Was not as lucky as you with the quality of the color case hardening. Looks really nice…
