I will eventually get snap caps. Until then - any risk with dryfiring (especially considering it may be a while before I can do any live fire d/t the ammo shortage:)

Despite many ‘rumors’, I have not found any real reason to avoid dry firing. It gives you a good feel for the trigger and helps establish muscle memory for mounting and firing your rifle. Go for it.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Rim-fire= no dry-fire
Center-fire generally won't hurt a thing to dry-fire most modern guns.

If it worries you just cut a small piece of leather that you can wedge between the hammer and the bolt to cushion the smack. May want to make a double layer if you use thin craft leather. That's what I do, and just manually thumb cock the hammer instead of working the lever.

Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes is rapidly becoming a reality (11/2023). Para Bellum.

Thanks all!
To my knowledge, the only “modern” centerfire that has had any issues has been Kimber revolvers. They have (had? - don’t keep up with them) issues with crystallization of the FP.

Sounds like there are no known issues with Henrys:)
Again - thanks!
