6.5 Creedmore Long Ranger

Post by Hatchdog » Tue Apr 20, 2021 9:38 am

There is a Long Ranger in 6.5 Creedmore with a Ziess scope, dies, bullets, brass and ammo for sale on our local site. No price or pictures so I PM’d the seller for that info. I did see an earlier post he deleted listing a price of $1350. I have no idea what Long Rangers sell for, either now or back in the day before the insanity set in.

What do you guys think about this price.

Thanks,

Sounds like a fair price to me for all that he is offering. That caliber is a good one for long range shooting if thats what you want. Personally for me I don’t have much interest in one

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Here’s a picture of the rifle and ammo/bullets he sent me. He didn’t provide a list of the bullets and quantities and it looks like the 180 rounds of ammo is hand loaded. Kinda lazy for a guy who wants $1350 cash no trade. That’s a good looking rifle and 6.5 Creedmore is a caliber I’ve been wanting to explore but more in a bolt action match rifle shooting to 600 yards. That’s not a reasonable distance to expect this Henry to shoot moa or less, probably more like a long range hunting rifle. As much as I like that Henry I could get a Ruger Precision or other brand bolt rifle for that price. Less scope and all the other items of course. Too bad the seller stated no trades or I might just be foolish enough to offer something up that I would regret later, as per usual.

I sympathize with your hesitancy. Personally, I would rather the bolt in 6.5 PRC to get the most if shooting for accuracy at 600 yards. Last November I paid $841 for my LR in .243 Win. if that helps on price eval. It's a great hunting shooter with handloads to 100 yards (.8"-.9") but you might like to see better groups if shooting for accuracy at distance.
Did he say why he's (apparently) getting out of 6.5 Creedmoor?

Hmm. Not too keen on shooting other peoples handloads. And possibly, the rifle just isn't a shooter. Seems to be stepping away from the 6.5 C pretty fast. My opinion only.

If you wanna have some fun with long range get a Sharps with some tang sights and load up some 45-70 with blackpowder and shoot that at 1000 yards. Make some smoke

there are folks I know who I fire their reloads without any concern .... can's say that about a few others .... for years now I've loaded for a few people who hunt with ammo we developed for their rifles .... I would be hesitant to fire reloads from a person I don't know without seeing him shooting it first
