Winter Suggestions
I live in Michigan and I ran into an issue deer hunting this year. I have a Henry steel receiver 357, and in the freezing temperatures it was a bear to get the tube out to unload/load. Any suggestions, or anyone know of an aftermarket magazine tube with a better grip or larger “pin” that locks the tube in that can be used as a lever?

Re: Winter Suggestions
You might want to thoroughly clean the magazine tube and then apply a dry lube like graphite you use for key slots. It does real well in cold conditions. It also is easily retouched when needed.

first, welcome to our forum.... delighted to have you join us .... do hope you will read and post often .... from my experience hunting in cold temps, I find it best to have little, if any, lubrication in the firearm as is possible .... with our Henry's, that includes on the outside of the inner magazine tube and the inside of the outer tube .... be sure to follow the link below to where you can add your Henry rifles to our community's total

Thanks, I love that gun but the cold temps we got this year was the first time I ever had an issue with it. Made the new side loads look awful enticing!

Welcome to the forum. Take your tube to the local hardware store and match up a couple of different size O rings and give that a try

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: Winter Suggestions
Did it happen more than once during this trip? If not, it may simply be that condensation formed and froze when the rifle was taken from a warm, humid environment into freezing outside temps. Just a thought.

Long weekend in the woods, it was usually fine loading up but after four to five hours in freezing temps and wet conditions it was just a pain to twist that loose to unload at the truck.

I know I posted this earlier in the year but I just came across something that I found for the rimfires. The attached photo is a magazine tube rod end.

Does anyone know if they make something similar for the BB? I think my specific model is H0012 (Steel receiver .357)
