loose loading tube

I have a new in the box 45-70 side gate. I was checking it out and noticed the loading tube would rotate slightly. It is not very noticeable. I wasn't sure if it should be mounted solid. It will move up and down slightly also.

I would get a hold of Henry and see if they have a suggestion as to how to tighten it up

Wasn’t there a dance in the 60’s called the ‘tighten up’?
Keep us posted on what Henry says and the outcome. Is the tube pinned to the receiver? Has the rifle been apart and the pin fallen out? I’m not familiar with the design of the centerfires.

if something can be shaken loose, the recoil of a high power load in a 45-70 will do so .... I completely agree with contacting Henry ... be sure to add your new Henry to our community's total at the link below
