Saw that in an e-mail from Henry. Nice, but you're right, a little pricey.

I hear ya, but I'd really like to have one in 45 colt though.

Love the looks of that style rifle. I ended up buying a Uberti rifle that style. I got rid of it quickly. I believe I bought the Uberti because I could get it in 45 Colt. It was not a joy to shoot though. It was so heavy and cumbersome with that magazine feed tube. Beautiful just really not very handy or practicle. I guess you really don't buy it to shoot, but of course I shoot everything that I buy. I traded it on a newer Marlin 1894 in 357 Magnum I believe, that rifle is a fun great shooter. Did not last long at my LGS that's for sure. To me that is a commemorative that Henry is like the Winchester company. They just make way to many of those

Agreed js, on the too darn many, and like you said about Winchester.
And they won't increase in value very fast if any.

Like you I shoot mine.
I do have a Marlin Cowboy and a Rossi both with the 20" barrels, along with a pair of Ruger revolvers.
I was looking for one of the 24" Cowboys, but found a fair deal on the one I have.
And it is already worth more than I paid.

Generally speaking collector designed items aren’t very collectible. I was antique shopping today and saw some beat up old metal lunch boxes from the 50’s going for $80 to $100. No one thought they would ever be worth anything and most kids abused them.

So are these rifles going to be worth a hundred times the selling price in 70 years?

Nice looking rifle, I'll pass. Way too pricey for me.

Not sure I'd want one, and many years from now someone will wonder why they made a rifle with a picture of Jim Henson on it.

That's one beautiful rifle, but priced a little out of my league. Based on the MSRP I'd say about 4 times what I'm willing to put out. Then again I shouldn't talk about price, I have 2 Les Baer 1911's that I have that much tied up in. Will they ever be worth what I paid? Maybe long after I'm gone.

I guess if that's what you want - go for it. Because if you don't spend your money someone else will.

I'm thinking that 10-20 years from now you will be lucky to get what you paid for them. Not just Henry, but Winchester's also. Like the 1873 Trapper Grade I Limited Series that they were just selling for $1,600 (msrp), or the grade IV for $2,000 (msrp)

If you buy one of those Winnies, don't shoot it or you will reduce its value.
But then, unless you own a museum, what good is a $2,000 wall hanger.
