Ya it does hang on that saddle like it was meant to be there. I'm not a hunter but I sure like the idea of having some protection in the back country.

RanchRoper the guns those fellows are using have probably been worked over for the game. They likely have short throw levers & they run VERY light loads through them. It's a game & those modifications give an advantage to the game. Give them full power loads & your Henry will compete with the best of them.
Same with the handguns they use VERY light loads, & the mounted CAS use blanks to pop the balloons not real ammo, give them 850fps .45 Colt loads & they likely wouln't have any advantage with their reworked six-guns.
But is is a shooting sport & therefore is good for shooters in general. It sells guns, ammo,leather, & generates interest in shooting.
This makes it a very good game.

Ya I'm not too interested in pimping out my Henry to simulate a machine gun. I like the tradition and hope to become proficient with it. But good for them and their sport. They are very passionate about it and that's cool.

I like that sport. I was fortunate enough to meet the founder of SASS, Harper Creigh. He is Judge Roy Bean and badge #1 in the sport. He was a true gentleman.

I agree RR. I would like to compete with stock firearms. That's the true measure of a man. I mean no disrespect to the competitor's in these sports. All sports equipment is worked over for maximum effectiveness. Stock cars are far from stock. These competitor's are true athletes and masters of their chosen sports and need tools modified within the limits.

I just would like to compete with no "extras". Just the way you carry it in the real world.

I agree with you. I've watched some of these guys before and they are shooters. But I'm old school. Other than I might add a stock cover, my rifle stays as is.

That's what I do too. I keep all of mine the way they came usually. However, I like what I hear about people liking their Skinner sights. I have changed the sights some air guns and have added scopes.

I'm thinking about some of the Skinner sights. I like peep and ghost ring sights.

I like the new peep scope base he has out.

I'll stick with the stock sights until I find out how I shoot. Might have to go to something else once the results come in...i.e. the Russian judge gave you a 2....does Fisher Price make a great big sight for old guys?

A rancher friend of mine who lives way back in the foothills said to bring my new rifle over Thursday night this week and we'll shoot. Looking forward to it!!
