I've read advice from several experts warning that pointed bullets should never be used in any lever-action rifle because the tip could detonate a primer in the tube during recoil, but every other bullet type can be used, including round nose. Hornady FTX bullets with flexible points were purposely developed for lever gun hunters to avoid this danger.

I've cycled more than 5000 rounds and, with the exception of pointed bullets, I've used most bullet types in my H006M without any problems.

There is no way bullet sliding down a fill tube will fire even with a point bullet . The pointy bullet in a tube mag COULD possibly go off from a recoil . But round nose and semi-wad bullet will NEVER fire in a tube mag under recoil or sliding down a mag tube .

If you ever shot and rapid cycle a 1873 Winc or clone you would know why it is king in CAS or SASS . 1892 Winc and 1894 Marin also take a back seat to 1873 winc . The 1873 winc is a toogle system will NOT handle HOT smokeless hunting loads . Was designed for 44-40 black powder or low pressure smokeless ammo and never wear out or break with these loads . The 44-40 HV which was the 44 mag and the box said not to be in used in SA Colt pistol or 1873 rifle . The 44-40 HV was made for the 1892 winc rifle for hunting . . .

More for fun than anything else, I took an empty case to the hardware store and bought some copper tubing. I cut it to length for 10 rounds and plugged one end with a rubber pad and had my speed loader.

Now that's a good idea.
