It sounds like the problem resolved itself BUT a 'shade tree' action smoothing job can be accomplished by squeezing Gunslick onto as many of the moving parts you can access while operating the action. Gunslick is a graphite based grease and comes in a small tube. Its black and greasy but once you get in into the moving parts you can wipe off the excess and shoot it for a while, operate the action etc. and after a period of time disassemble the rifle completely and clean thoroughly and lube normally. If you gave it fair amount of time and use (like six months to a year) you will find the bearing surfaces of the parts polished smooth and after cleaning and reassembling find it to be MUCH smoother than when new. I am about ready for the disassembly & cleaning part of the process for mine.

It is still an issue with mine, and I am investigating a solution to the sometime problem. Will update when I know more.

Wailer1, please call Henry CS and explain what's happening with your rifle. A "sometime problem" is still a problem. HRA won't be satisfied until you are. Let us know what happens.

Thanks for your advice, but I am a retired design and manufacturing engineer, and consider everything a challenge. Since the feed issue is transitory I am intrigued by it. That also makes me question why it happens at all, and what Henry would do to correct it. And if they can correct it, how so, and by extension so can I. Thusly I would learn by the experience. Since the rifle is not a primary firearm for me, I am guilty of letting it slide for a while, and keeping wifey happy by traveling around the country. Winter approaches, however, with long days in my workshop.
