What rear sight did you use? .. Did you have to replace the front sight also?

Welcome from Va. ! The ghost ring type sight is an insert for the stock rear sight that I make up from old hacksaw blades. You can switch it out easily with a screwdriver. I have made them for all my Henry rifles. Easier for me to get on target with the older eyes!
Hope you stick around the forum here...good folks and info here!

Really beautiful rifle, Forty. We have a CCH Carbine in 357 - I think they are the best looking lever guns that Henry sells - big octagon barrel, nice CCH, classic American walnut, and high quality Henry craftmanship - just can't go wrong - congrats.

Looks good, nice coloring - so how well does the CCH coloring wear and what do you do to maintain it?

I have the 45 Colt CCH also. The CCH so far has shown itself to be tough and durable. No marring or scratches so far. I wipe it down with an oiled cloth.
The loading gate is not CCH. It's black steel. It will accumulate a brass appearing smear from ammo being slide into the gate. It's a tough scrub with Hoppe's #9 to get it off. TetraGun works better. I no longer bother. I leave it, gives the rifle additional character.

I agree with leaving the brass smear. I have the CCH in 44 mag and at first, I thought, I should clean the brass smear, but leaving it gives it the look of a veteran! I've done far more shooting with it than I thought I would.
