Re: Propane Tank
The tank guy called me this morning and he has the tanks. They will be delivered tomorrow morning 6 am. River Country Propane will arrive the same time to offload and setup.

Re: Propane Tank
Well at 6 am sharp the propane tank guy and separate off loaders and installers were here.
I ordered three 1,000 and two 500 gallon tanks however one 1,000 tank is on back order with a month ETA. The real work begins.
The old 500 gallon tank is still in place. The second 1,000 being set in place. The old 500 moved closed and bled over. Trenching. Room for one more 1,000. The motor home tank being offloaded and set in place. Glad it wasn’t raining. They had to come across the hay field. The 500 gallon garage tank. I want to spray paint the motor home tanks a camouflage gray to match the rocks. The home tanks will be behind a fence.
It was still dark when they started to offload. I ordered three 1,000 and two 500 gallon tanks however one 1,000 tank is on back order with a month ETA. The real work begins.

Re: Propane Tank
It appears you are very well prepared. Congratulations! Are they painted/coated well to stand up to all the snow up there?

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Yes, looks good. You won't have to worry about running out of propane in the middle of Winter.
Why is the motorhome tank sitting up on blocks?

Re: Propane Tank
They are like any other propane tank you see. Unless you hit them with the lawn mower and chip the paint they will last for 20 years before needing to be repainted.markiver54 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 1:11 pmIt appears you are very well prepared. I still get the quoted price for the existing tanks. The BO tank will get delivered and hooked up but not filled till next summer.
This tank is a bottom feeder.

“ This tank is a bottom feeder.”
With the total weight of the tanks and the propane a little extra curing time for the concrete is a good thing. You’re good to go now, enjoy that heat!

Re: Propane Tank
Bottom feeders take liquid from the bottom which is required to fill the motor home tank and any 5 gallon tank. Top feeders only takes it in gas stage at a very slow rate.
Yes the extra curing time was good and yes I can go an entire winter on two 1,000 gallon tanks. In reality I could go two years. Getting a truck up my driveway to fill a 500 gallon tank in the winter was worrisome.

Re: Propane Tank
The propane was delivered today.
I was able to fill my motor home from the dedicated 500 gallon tank. Even if the motor home tank goes empty it will still feed propane from the big tank. The main advantage is I can fill the motor home tank and leave full. Actually it will only fill to the same level as the big tank. I would be able to fill it all the way if I bought a $400 pump.
The two 1,000 house tanks are full and should last me two years. I have a third 1,000 tank coming any week now. The 500 gallon garage tank is also full even though nothing is hooked to it. I ran out of time and will go the winter without heat in the garage.
