Concrete Filled Hole in the Ground
AKA ... tornado shelter.
Ordered four months ago. The first guy was a scam artist, yanked us around for three months, but we did get our money back. Placed the second order with the only company in our area that actually made the 6x12 size. The rest only did the 6x8. Dang thing weighs 14,500 pounds, came in one piece. Their contractor was backed up , but finally got out here. The guys did a great job and put it right where Miss T wanted it. It's about 30 feet out the back door, beside her She Shed, and can be seen on the security camera. The door locks so we can put a few supplies in it and not worry. I'll hang the key beside the back door with a huge fluorescent solas tail on it so it will be easy to spot, even in low light...
Here it is, the first pic shows the relationship to Miss T's workshop. That huge pile of dirt behind it will go down to the pasture to be used on my range berm when I heal enough to build the berm.
A closer look at the install.
Down the stairs and inside. Plenty of room for the two of us, and my daughter and family if they are visiting.
Another view... of course, after the dirt is all settled and Miss T has packed everything, filled in anything that settles, she will likely reseed, or landscape.

We aren't IN tornado alley, but it only takes one. About half the farms around us have them.

Don't know. Seems like the OKC area get's hit pretty hard with them. I remember your SE of OKC by a few miles. Good to have just in case.BrokenolMarine wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 1:10 pmWe aren't IN tornado alley, but it only takes one. About half the farms around us have them.

Yup, but luckily we are located in the mountains, and the range seems to turn away a great number of the storms, break them up, or dissipate much of the energy before they reach us. May have a lot to do with the lack of activity here.Shakey Jake wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 3:23 pmDon't know. Seems like the OKC area get's hit pretty hard with them. Yup, kinda like here. Our mountains break up a lot of bad weather.

BOM, do you know how divorces and tornadoes in Oklahoma are alike? Either one is going to get the trailer house! I know, Old joke.
