Love the canes. I use one every day around the house, but use a wheelchair in the shop or when we go anywhere that requires a lot of movement. I wanted to make a cane or two, but no lathe. I glued up the blanks and used a spokeshave to shape them. I have several now, and normally use my Marine Corps cane, a gift from the wife... But we always watch for the unique or unusual canes or walking sticks when we are out.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

Simper Fi from a fellow Marine. This is one I completed for myself a few months back.

20200624_072606.jpgI make a few sticks to give away to friends that need one. I use a NZ native called Lancewood and decorate with bone and paua shell . The left one has no shell but the bone is my hip joint .After 65 years of use I didn't want to throw it away as I can still use it and it will outlast the rest of me.
Nice looking canes I like the wood!

I use many woods JEBar. Walnut, mahogany , ash, maple and others. The shank or staff of the canes all area minimum of 1” in diameter. I attach Hand made handles using 5/16th” all thread.
