Built this 15.5 ft skiff in 2004 from stitch and glue plans. It is glass over marine plywood. Upped ply specs by one dimension. Been on most NH lakes with no issues. I wanted to build a wide beam 20+ footer for striper fishing offshore, but my son stated that there is no way he is on the ocean in a boat that I built in my barn. That kid has no confidence!

Hmm is it the barn that has him not wanting to go out in it or the builder.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Can't be the motor. That motor will idle/slow troll for hours without a hitch. Speaking of motors that splitter is a 35 ton beast with a 5"cylinder. The motor is a 12 horse Briggs. No issues yet but not a real briggs fan. Now the small motor world is changed. Ariens and most Briggs are Chinese, Tecumseh is long gone and I'm not sure about Onan and Wisconsin.
