I am thinking of trying to replace these stock forearm and stock on this youth edition 336 marlin with this walnut stock made for a regular 336.as you can see the forearm in longer than the existing (ad is the buttstock. How many issues do you old home rifle fixers see with me trying to fit that forearm...I don't mind it being longer if I can move the band forward...have also considered cutting off back end.. though would have to redo the existing lip on the back if I do that ....ideas... suggestions? I just like walnut much better than what's on it

None! Go for it - but take it low and slow, fit, check refit - and measure THREE times and cut once!!
Seriously - it should fit fine with little modification and leave the forestock the length it is as it appears it will fit with no issues.
You may have a little scratch on the top of the barrel where the band currently sets but that is an easy touch up with cold blue!

That wood should look good on there. It has some good figure in it

How do I pick the proper size bit to drill the holes in the buttstock for the tang screw? And any tricks or ideas on best way to drill it properly? Thanks

Use a sizing card and measure against the bolt you remove from the original stock to determine bit size, and drill the countersink first. To drill the hole perfectly in the new buttstock, you'll want a padded vise and drill press, or a lathe. If neither are available, you can use a hand drill, but you would want to set up a reference to keep the drill lined up during the process. Most importantly, slow and steady gets a better result.
Pushing a dowel thru the old buttstock will give you the line you need to take thru the new.
If I was going to attempt it, that would be my plan... But I will admit, the pucker factor would be high.
