Bear finished at last

My latest project finished at last l have been working on this piece for about a year along with several others. This piece was carved from a burl “don’t know what kind of wood “. But very difficult to carve. It stands about 2 ft tall and weighs about 60 lbs. The claws are made from Tagus Nut that grows in South America, also known as vegetable ivory. This is a one piece carving.

Very nice Carver! You have the patience of a saint!
My late father-in-law carved also. We have several much smaller pieces he did up at our cabin. Will try to post some pics if I can remember when we go there this year, in the mean time, I hope you continue your beautiful work!

Very nice piece. I love these pieces and always wanted one. We were on vacation in Gatlinburg TN and I watched a carver for more than an hour work on a very nice totem there. The gift shops there are filled with amazing work at stunning prices... Or... Stunning work at amazing prices. Excellent job.

Long range plans, I really don’t have any I really just use carving as a hobby that I enjoy. I was showing quite bit. So now I only go to one show in Colo Springs and then bring them home and put them somewhere in the house, getting full. The wife told me I should be carving smaller pieces or do relief that can be hung on the wall.

Just put an addition on the house, then carve away!

If ya run out of space though....oh...I won't go there
