something over a year ago our oldest son completed his Residency in St Louis and moved his family back home .... they sold most of their furniture prior to moving .... since then they have built a home 3 miles from our place .... his younger brother and he have almost completed building a cedar 10' X 4' Farmhouse Table shown below .... they still have to sand and finish it .... we think it is really going to be pretty .... their goal is to have it finished in time for our family's gathering at Christmas

Anything you make yourself, always adds to the value, then the table tells family stories for years to come.

Cedar is a soft impressionable wood, and will scar, but those will be tales.

the cedar came from our youngest son's business .... it was part of a display that was due to be discarded when it was no longer needed .... they have built 2 .... the youngest son's is smaller .... the larger one should seat 10 -12 people .... after sanding I believe they are going to apply a pretty good coat of polyurethane

That looks like it will be a superb table for family & friends get-togethers ..... and table tennis!

one of their goals is to create family heirlooms that will be passed down in their families .... I strongly suspect that goal will be accomplished

earlier today we were over at our son's home and took a look at he table .... they are down to applying final coats of polyurethane .... it really looks good to me
