My new addiction, er, hobby

Post by clovishound » Mon Feb 08, 2021 10:18 am

Got a spoon carving set for Christmas. Started carving wooden spoons.

Man this is addictive. Got so bad I ordered a new spokeshave from Lee Valley to make things easier. It's a beautiful tool, but man it was expensive. Wouldn't have considered it without the new interest.

Told the Pup the other day I either need to start giving them away, or buy a small wood stove.

Here is the crop from last week. It has grown since I took the picture a few days ago.

I bought some cherry lumber to make some to give to friends at work. It's pretty stuff, but it's tougher to work than the bradford pear branch I picked up in the side of the road a couple weeks ago. I love carving them from green wood. It works like butter. Hopefully some folks will be trimming their bradfod pear trees this spring.

Very nice. I haven't done any of that. I do love my spokeshave though. Now that you have one, you will find uses you never suspected.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Great work clovishound. I have a shaving horse I need to get in place and maybe make some myself this spring.
