Done!
The Daughter showed up with the glass and the flag this afternoon. She was fine with a waxed finish over the stain, so she could take the box home, so I waxed it. Then we installed the glass, which fit perfectly. I screwed on the name plate (which I have edited to remove the name and info in this pic) and added the coins, and we were done. She was very happy with the final product. I saw room for improvement and will make notes to make sure the next one in this style is better.
They can always be better. Right? But since SHE was happy... I am happy.
The flag sat a bit low, so we stuck a temporary spacer under it for the pic. She is going to use some foam she has at home to boost it slightly and center it in the glass, other than that, I am thrilled.
They could also refold the flag slightly larger... but I've heard that refolding the flag is bad luck.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can't do anymore with regret, I just look forward to the things I still can.

The glass fit exactly.. so the measurements hadn't changed.

That is beautiful and noble work, Marine.
Pragmatism: the relentless pursuit of seeing things as they really are.
