Snow Shoes

I was going to order some snow shoes last spring and then summer happened. It’s time for me to start thinking about it again. I know Dave had a nice set and they are currently first on my list but I lost the link.
Any other suggestions?

What kind of snowshoes? Love traditional wooden snow shoes - I have a pair and I've used them - but for serious snowshoeing, modern snowshoes are definitely more effective and much more durable. To be honest, when the conditions are right, I would much rather XC ski than snowshoe, but that's a different sport, entirely.

Wood and leather for me. I already have a plastic pair and don’t care for them. I used a Gene Prater pair for decades. I met him once on the top of Mt Stuart a long time ago.

Gene,
Here's a link again.
I can't recommend him highly enough. I got a chance to use them last year with an unexpected snow and they were great.

We're supposed get2" of snow, tonight. Not enough for skiing or snowshoeing, but winter is knocking on the door. Won't be long, now.

I kept forgetting to order them and finally remembered today. They should be completed in about two weeks.

I see on my bank account the snowshoes have been billed. I’m hoping they ship tomorrow so I’ll get them in about a week. Let it snow!

I'm hoping to hear how you like them. By the way, I mentioned the forum to him when we spoke on the phone, but I don't know if he looked or joined.

I’m going to call again tomorrow or more likely Monday and will mention the forum.

Im soo happy i live where i dont need snow shoes, sure we get snow, but it usually doesnt last long enough to need snow shoes, and its more likely going to be three or four inches. Sure, i have seen up to two feet, but thats about a once in 40 year event...thank goodness!!!.... for them that like or don't mind snow.... good deal.... but not me...
Its a big wide world out there full of lots of different weather, people adapt and roll on.
Interesting to hear the different situations .

Nice, going forward I will start referring to winter as “Cousin Eddie”.

Here in Wisconsin it’s called the annual ice age.

Gene, those look just like mine. Did you get leather or synthetic bindings? I can't tell from the photo. Congratulations, I'm sure you will like them.
Good call on the ice cleats too.

Very nice and, oh yeah, you will need those ice cleats. We can get a freeze-thaw cycle anytime during the winter, now.
