Re: New canoe
Thanks we liked it’s old school looks. Good for rivers or small lakes. We have lots with 30 min of home.

Re: New canoe
Glad to see you use a front tiedown on the canoe. We taught a lot of various classes related to kayaking and kayak fishing, and tie down was one of them. We encouraged the front tie down strap. So many think it's not needed. Have seen pictures of the roof racks, with kayaks or canoes laying on the side of the road. Cars meeting big rigs head on can give combined speeds of approaching more than 150mph ... that's a lot of lift.
Nice looking canoe... though we are kayak people. Both are quiet and stealthy. Amazing what you can see when your mode of transport is quiet...

Re: New canoe
Yes the front tie downs are attached to bolts in the body under the hood so not even pulling on the hood itself. We get winds around here a lot.

Re: New canoe
I looked for a pic of ours, they were split, and went to the front tow hooks. They had tennis balls permanently possitioned on both sides to prevent rubbing on the hood/grill of the vehicle. We taught our students to tie them just tight enough to prevent droop in the lines, they didn't need to pull Down on the kayaks, only prevent lift. They often commented later how often they saw those lines tighten, proving they were doing their job... Also preventing stress being transmitted to the rack mounts.

Re: New canoe
Nice. I have considered a kevlar canoe since I saw the ad which showed the rock bouncing off one leaving the canoe undamaged (40 years ago?). There were 2 men at one of my accounts in Ontario that were building them and I just couldn't get past the price which was around $1200 back in the 80s. Very nice lines. How much does it weigh?

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
