Rod Building , Fishing Rods that is...

Post by gecsr1 » Sun Oct 10, 2021 12:27 pm

I got into building fishing rods about 6/7 years ago, being a avid saltwater fisherman and boat owner .
Its just a perfect hobby... I call my self a hobby builder, cause really not in it as a business, although I do sell some rods and do rod repairs for others.
It's a wonderful past time and fun and sometimes challenging...
Thanks for listening....

I’ve considered this also. Seems like a good way to know my rods. Kind of like building a rifle. Where would you recommend I look for information? Thanks

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

I don’t make rods but I make my own baits.

When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn't become a king. The palace becomes a circus.

I made a graphite fly rod from a blank. Tina bought a sad bamboo fly rod, stripped it down and completely rebuilt it as a gift for me. We both enjoyed wrapping the guides onto the rods. I built a wooden stand to hold the rod blanks while we did it.

Since we had done it before, we worked with the VA coordinator to lead a group of vets thru building their rods, taught the casting class, the basic tying class, then took the group trout fishing with rods they built, and flies they tied. Amazing journey for even those who had fly fished before. :D

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
