I have everything from Paul Whiteman in the 1920's to Western Swing 1930's to big band 1940's to Sun Studio Elvis & Johnny Cash 1950's to Beatles to Alice Cooper to Van Halen to Metallica. Throw in some Baroque, Gene Autry and Sons of the Pioneers and that almost covers it.
Now that is diversity with a capital “D”.

Me, I’m kinda stuck in the classic rock and the blues arena. However I do have some more contemporary choices like Smash Mouth and The Verve. I have a buddy who is into music in a huge way and he has loaded some very diverse music on my play list for me. From Elvis and Roger Miller to Mika. I play my music shuffled so never know what’s going to come up next. Traveling from The Alman Brothers through Pink Floyd to Roger Miller is a great journey. No Journey tho, got way burned out on them in the 80’s.

My musical tastes and collection are quite eclectic, too. Everything from Sinatra and Dylan to the Beatles and Lady Gaga and pretty much everything in between, but especially Blues and Rock and Roll.

Even so, I really did surprise myself this week after watching a PBS program called Great Performances: The Magic of Callas, which documents her extraordinary performance in 1964 of Puccini’s Tosca, directed for the stage by Franco Zeffirelli at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden. Only the second act was filmed and it is what's shown in this program. For the first time, because of explanations provided by interviewees during the program, I could understand and appreciate and thoroughly enjoy Opera. I loved it.

It was an extraordinary performance that was followed by 27 curtain calls in an ovation that lasted 40 minutes. There is no question as to why. It was awesome.
