Ideas for old shell casings?

Post by Ozarkwoodswalker » Sat Nov 21, 2020 3:13 pm

Any idea for things I could make using old bullet casings... I see people make ink pens and other things... i'm looking for something simple and useful I could make with minimal tool selection and/or skill level..🤪 .... just fishing for some unique Christmas stocking stuffer ideas...
Thanks....

Here you go, if you can think of something that somebody has not already done, good for you.

Many years ago I made a nice little key fob from a .45ACP hardball round - drilled out the primer pocket, added a small stainless clevis pin and ring. I carried that forever, and finally abandoned it to a trash can at an airport security gate. They would not let it through. Idiots. This was about 1992....

Make things that won’t get your family in trouble at the airport. Post some pics when you figure this out.

I know a guy who makes tire valve covers out of 9mm shells.
I have personally made a couple lamp finials out of my spent 50 call shells.

Be careful...in states like Massachusetts, spent cartridges can get you a felony charge!

Just another stupid law on the books...I have key chains with 9mm, .223, and .50AE dummy cartridges and they are all illegal in MA.
It's even illegal to posses spent cartridges unless you have the proper permits!

That is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard.
We'll just leave it at that.Too much political risk here!

I use them often as drawer and door pulls when appropriate on my various boxes or chests. I have recently posted a thread in the handgun forum showing my armorers chest I built, and not only do they serve those functions, but all the cleaning and jag rods hang on spent cases for the calibers they are set up for.
