Well then, hope all goes well and you all have a fun day without Incident..
I understand wanting to be off the water before all the party goers arrive.
Usually when I go to the river, I like going during the week as it's much calmer than the weekends.
Enjoy.

Yesterday’s shakedown cruise went great, all boat systems worked as they should. Launching and driving the boat was a breeze as was docking and putting it back on the trailer. The only difference from non pontoon boats I’ve operated in the past was the driving. No climbing up onto plane instead just an increase is speed without any bow lift. I reached 23 mph down wind/current and 22 into the wind/current. Wind was light so not much of a factor.

Beaching was great especially with the front gate in the boat fence. Our dogs couldn’t wait to get out and man did they have fun. This was the pups first boat ride and beach/water experience. He wouldn’t stop running up and down the beach and in and out of the water. Wore me out just watching. Our adult dog had a great time but wasn’t quite as rambunctious as the pup. The pup would put his head completely under water and pick up a rock from the bottom. How they know not to inhale while submerged is beyond me.

All in all it was a fun day at the lake. Week after next we’re going back up for five days staying in the campground.

Put the boat into its summertime storage location next to my shop building and installed the mooring cover. I’m very impressed with how well the cover fit and the install wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I didn’t crawl into the boat under the cover to install the tent poles that keep water from pooling since it’s under cover and won’t get rained on. That doesn’t look like fun doing that pole install.

In a post about the recent storm damage he received BOM mentioned shade cloth. I was looking for a solution to the morning sun beating down on my boat and considered metal siding same as the building. That is expensive and labor intensive so I was really not embracing that idea. Looked into the shade cloth BOM mentioned and for $35. And overnight delivery Amazon solved my problem.

Thanks BOM for the idea!

Before and after.

Hooked the boat up to the motorhome for the first time today to run two tests. First was would the length of the rv and the boat be too much for the cul-d-sac at the end of my road that I am forced to use to turn around as my driveway is nearly a 180 turn and when I tow anything I can’t make the turn. The other test was would the rv tow the boat up the hill on my gravel driveway and keep traction. Happy to report it passed both tests with flying colors. It’s a long one indeed.
